Attorney General's Office (AGO) has sent four bills to the President's Office to be proposed to the Parliament of the Maldives.
AGO has revealed it has submitted three amendment bills and one new bill. The bills include a bill concerning the sale of endangered species, a bill to amend the Water and Sewerage Act, a bill to amend the Judicature Act of the Maldives, and a bill to amend the Judges Act of the Maldives.
Furthermore, AGO has proposed to submit 33 government-proposed bills for the current sitting. These include new bills and amendment bills related to establishing policies on COVID-19 vaccine administration, compensation for defamation, establishing laws on legal evidence, and providing state assistance.
The bills also concern establishing laws on foreign investments, electronic transactions, mental health, and establishing a Maldives Media and Broadcasting Authority.
Additionally, AGO has proposed to submit bills to amend the Maldives Pension Act, the Drugs Act of the Maldives, and the Transitional Justice Act.
