Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated helping individuals who are most in need leads to a happy society. He made the statement in his speech at the ceremony to conclude the yearly camp of the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of the Maldives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Imran said the society needs to support the members most in need of help and show them love and respect in order for that society to instill peace and happiness. In this regard, the minister said the yearly camp conducted by the blind and visually impaired society with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment is an important programme to pave the way for peace and happiness.
He said the experience gained by hosting the yearly camp should be used to organise more such programmes. He detailed the government, organisations, and society at large should work together to organise programmes to help people with special needs.
Furthermore, Minister Imran said the yearly camp has shown the government institutions can work more closely with the blind and visually impaired society to increase awareness of people with special needs. He highlighted that people with special needs include individuals with different limitations and require different kinds of support and assistance to build them into capable members of society.
Minister Imran also launched the official website of the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of the Maldives at the ceremony.
