JSC to take action against Chief Meedhoo Magistrate

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced it has decided to take disciplinary action against Mohamed Thayyib, the Chief Magistrate of Meedhoo, Addu City.

The decision was made following an investigation into a complaint filed against him. JSC stated its investigation has concluded Chief Magistrate Thayyib had violated established laws and regulations by issuing a house-arrest order on a defendant.

The commission stated the house-arrest order violates the Judicature Act of the Maldives and the Code of Ethics for Judges. JSC also stated it has decided to issue a warning to Chief Magistrate Thayyib over the case.

He is also required to complete a training programme chosen by the commission.
