MNP officially registered as a political party

Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has officially registered Maldives National Party (MNP) in the political parties’ registry of the Maldives.

MNP was formed under the leadership of Parliamentarian and former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim. MNP applied for registration on September 15 with signatures from over 5,000 members. The party also conducted its congress on October 8, electing members to all of its leadership positions.

MNP had stated the party aims to achieve a membership of 10,000 by the end of the year.
