President concludes trip to six islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has returned to Male' after concluding his two-day trip to six islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll.

President Solih visited Thoddoo, Rasdhoo, Ukhulhas, Mathiveri, Bodufolhudhoo and Himandhoo during the trip. President Solih met with the Alifu Alifu Atoll Council as well as the island council and women's development committee (WDC) of each island. He also held discussions with major stakeholders from the islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll including residents, business owners, guesthouse owners, and farmers. He also visited several key landmarks at the islands along with sites of government projects.

At Thoddoo, President Solih inaugurated the new multi-purpose hall and 12 new classrooms at the local school. The president also had discussions with farmers and guesthouse owners and toured the Thoddoo Agricenter by STO where he examined agricultural items cultivated from the Thoddoo farmlands.

At Rasdhoo, he held discussions with the community, toured the Alifu Alifu Atoll Hospital and visited the site of erosion which is a key concern noted by the residents. The third island and final destination on the first day of the two-day trip was Ukhulhas, where the president held discussions with the residents, local business owners and guesthouse owners.

On his second day of the trip, President Solih travelled to Mathiveri where he met with the residents of the island and visited the local health centre. He then travelled to Bodufolhudhoo and officially inaugurated the newly-built mosque, with a capacity of 300 worshippers. He also went to the site of coastal erosion on the island along with the health centre and Magistrate Court and held discussions with the residents of the island.

The last leg of the President's trip was to Himandhoo where he inaugurated the new island harbour, that was constructed at a cost of approximately USD 3 million.

The president was accompanied on this trip by a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior officials from the government.
