Ministry of Economic Development has revealed over 40 Maldivian entrepreneurs will be participating in World Expo 2020 to be held in Dubai, UAE.
Speaking to PSM News, Permanent Secretary and Commissioner General for the Maldives Section of Expo 2020 Yoosuf Riza said the Maldives has made plans to participate more fully in the expo, compared to the previous editions. Noting that 191 countries will be participating in the expo, he said this was an important opportunity to promote the Maldives. As such, he said over 40 Maldivian entrepreneurs will be participating in the expo to showcase their work and that the opportunity is still open for more Maldivians to apply to join the team in the next six months. He advised interested individuals to contact the Business Centre Corporation (BCC).
Expo 2020 is scheduled to be open from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, after being rescheduled from October 2020 to April 2021 following the COVID-19 pandemic. The team from the Maldives will establish its pavilion in the Sustainability District and showcase Maldivian cultural activities, music, and art.
