Upcoming elections set to be the party’s most competitive internal elections: MDP

Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Hassan Latheef has stated the party’s upcoming internal elections will be its most competitive elections till date.

Speaking at a press conference held on the preparations for the internal elections, Chairperson Latheef said arrangements are being made to ensure all electoral processes are carried out smoothly. He noted this will be the party’s most competitive internal elections till date.

Speaking at the press conference, Member of the Organising Committee and Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said voting will be carried out in schools of all but 3 islands across the Maldives. She noted voting in the Greater Male’ Region will be carried out in 15 schools and the Social Centre in Male’.

MDP’s internal elections will be held on September 25. 733 candidates are contesting in the elections, including 165 candidates who have been elected without a vote. MDP said 92,743 people are eligible to vote in the election.
