GAM votes to rename association

Members of the Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) have voted to rename the association to National Hotels and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM). The members passed the motion to rename the association at the Annual General Meeting 2020 held in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll.

The purpose of renaming the association NHGAM is to advocate for the rights of hotel managers as well as guesthouses across the country, stated GAM adding it has contracted a company to rebrand GAM which will be completed within a week.

Further, GAM also stated that it will broaden its scope by working more closely with guesthouse businesses and provide assistance to small businesses. The association has also decided to increase marketing for guesthouses internationally by participating in roadshows and hosting an award show.

GAM is a non-profit organisation established in 2014 which represents businesses in the local tourism sector. The association has evolved over the years to be the leading non-profit organisation in the industry and the voice of local island-based tourism.

The association cooperates with all the guesthouses of the Maldives, conducts research-based work, raising awareness as well as promoting the local tourism sector.
