President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on being formally sworn in as President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Shahid was sworn in as the UNGA president at the 76th session held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
In a tweet congratulating Shahid, President Solih said it was a historic moment in the foreign policy of the Maldives and a fine indication of the positive strides the country continues to make in international statecraft.
After officially presiding over the chair of the 76th UNGA session, Shahid shared the major five areas which will be focused on during his tenure.
