Ministry of Tourism has revealed 11 new resorts would be opened in the Maldives this year.
The tourism ministry said 4 new resorts have opened so far this year, including Patina Maldives Resort, Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Kuda Villingili and Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa. The ministry said a further 7 resorts are set to open before the end of the year, taking the total number of resorts opened this year to 11.
The government had earlier announced 18 new resorts are expected to be opened this year, accounting for 5,062 new beds and 9,000 new job opportunities in the tourism industry. However, the tourism ministry has revealed this target would not be achieved this year.
