Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed it will open applications to operate restaurants near the channel separating Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Suhail Ahmed said the HDC has decided to allow restaurants to open on both sides of the channel.Suhail said HDC will open applications for parties interested in operating the restaurants near the channel within a month. He highlighted the popularity of oceanfront restaurants and said that HDC wishes to see restaurants operating in the same way by facing the channel.
HDC is currently building a channel between Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2 as part of its landscaping work, which also includes building small bridges to connect both sides of the channel. HDC stated it has completed a large part of the work to build the channel, which is approximately 50 metres wide and 1.85 metres deep.
The corporation stated it is currently working on sheet piling and that the project will be completed in early next year.
Furthermore, HDC stated the area around the channel will be built in an environment-friendly sustainable manner and will accommodate recreational activities. Additionally, HDC has opened the four narrow bridges over the channel to pedestrians.
