Guesthouse Association of the Maldives (GAM) has prepared to promote local guesthouses of the Maldives in the biggest cities of India.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Vice President Hamza Qasim said GAM exerts major efforts to promote the guesthouses, adding discussions have been held with the Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Sanjay Sudhir to hold promotional events in India. He revealed discussions were focused to widen the promotional activities held in India and develop human resources in the sector. He noted travel fairs will be held in the biggest cities of India.
India is the biggest market contributing to the tourism industry of the Maldives. As such, 21.8 percent of the total arrivals this year are from India which amounts to 172,104 arrivals.
