Fenaka Corporation has decided to interconnect the power grids of Goidhoo, Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo in Baa Atoll.
Fenaka stated it decided to interconnect the power grids of the three islands as the islands lie in close proximity with each other in the same lagoon, and have a relatively small population. The combined population of the three islands is about 1,500.
Fenaka stated the central powerhouse of the interconnected grid will be located in Goidhoo. Goidhoo is the largest and most populous island among the three islands, with a land area of 113 hectares and a population of about 800.
Fenaka has issued an announcement seeking a contractor for the project to interconnect the power grids of the three islands. The state-owned company said interested parties can register until September 29. The project is open for both local and foreign companies. The bid security for the project is USD 100,000.
The power grids of the three islands will be interconnected through an underwater cable network. The interconnection project will help to improve the electricity services provided in all three islands.
Fenaka provides electricity services in more than 150 islands across the atolls. The company operates an interconnected power grid in the connected wards of Addu City, as well as three wards of Gan, Laamu Atoll.
