Customs contracts SJ Trade to construct south regional head office

Maldives Customs Service has signed an agreement with SJ Trade Private Limited to construct the Customs South Regional Head Office building at Maradhoo, Addu City.

The agreement was signed by Commissioner General of Customs Abdulla Shareef and Director of SJ Trade Shihad Ibrahim. Under the agreement, SJ Trade is tasked with completing the building construction within 411 days at a cost of USD 1.4 million.

In a tweet, Commissioner Shareef said Customs will be able to provide better services to Addu City residents once the regional head office is opened. Customs and the Addu City Council signed the agreement to lease the land for the south regional head office building in January 2020.

Customs is currently providing its services in nine regions across the atolls, including the islands of Uligan, Hanimaadhoo, Thilafushi, Thulusdhoo, Gan, and Villingili.

The institution also provides services in Kulhudhuffushi City as well as Gan and Hithadhoo in Addu City.
