Emirates has decided to resume scheduled flights between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Emirates said flights between Male’ and Colombo will resume on September 1. The airline said it is also increasing the frequency of flights between Dubai and Male’ to 4 flights per day, starting from October 15.
Emirates is one of the leading carriers of tourists to the Maldives. As per the statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, Emirates has carried 145,158 tourists to the Maldives this year, as of August 25.
With the decrease in COVID-19 cases and the high vaccination rate, the number of tourist arrivals has been increasing significantly in the Maldives. As a result, several international airlines have increased its frequency of flights to the Maldives.
As per the latest statistics of the tourism ministry, 33 airlines are currently operating international flights to the Maldives. This includes airlines operating scheduled flights and chartered flights.
