Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated the Maldives Police Service (MPS) focuses on providing better police training to improve its services. He made the statement in a tweet following a meeting with MPS officers who completed the second phase of the Indian Police Academy (IPS) Probationers Course conducted in Hyderabad, India.
The home minister noted the officers were the first Maldivians to have completed the second phase of the IPS Probationers Course, adding the officers were eager to use their training in their services. During the meeting, Minister Imran congratulated the officers for completing the training and advised them to continue providing their services for the good of the country.
Also at the meeting, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed commended the officers for their work and instructed them to continue working to improve the services provided by the police force.
IPS is a prestigious service in India that conducts training in four parts, which aims to build capacity for the probationers to meet the unique challenges in the field by teaching police leadership and management, ethics and human rights, forensic science, and other compulsory subjects during the course. MPS officers have been given the opportunity to participate in the IPS Probationers Course since 1998.
Previously, MPS officers participated in batch 71 and 72 of the IPS Probationers Courses held in 2018 and 2019.
