COVID-19 cases recorded in the Maldives exceed 80,000

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the Maldives has exceeded 80,000.

HPA recorded 108 new COVID-19 cases detected in the Maldives on August 24, taking the total number of cases recorded in the country to 80,067. The latest updates include 37 cases from Greater Male' region, 63 cases from islands, and 8 cases from resorts.

There are currently 1,641 active cases, including 16 patients who are hospitalised for treatment. The total number of people recovered from COVID-19 is 78,189. The number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has rapidly decreased compared to the first few months of the year.

Furthermore, HPA also revealed nearly 300,000 individuals have completed the doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives.
