President of Adaalath Party Imran Abdulla has assured the party will not step back from the government coalition as long as President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih upholds the values and principles of Islam and safeguards the security and rights of the Maldivian people.
Imran, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, made the remarks at a gathering held by Adaalath Party to mark its 16th anniversary.
Speaking at the gathering, Imran said Adhaalath has been exemplary to other parties in the country during the past 16 years despite it being a small political movement. Noting the political arena of the Maldives has been unstable since the formation of political parties in 2005, Imran said the current government coalition has shown togetherness although the coalition formed in 2008 was dissolved.
Reiterating President Solih's word to move forward with the coalition, the minister assured Adaalath, as well as, himself will stand by the government. He further expressed confidence in the members representing Adaalath in the government to achieve the objectives of President Solih.
Imran, the president of the third political party formed in the Maldives, revealed efforts are underway to formulate a strategic plan to reform the party.
