Ministry of Tourism has recorded over 4,000 tourist arrivals to the Maldives per day in August. The statistics from the tourism ministry show it is the highest number of daily average tourist arrivals recorded so far this year.
The statistics show the number of tourist arrivals began increasing in August. As such, a daily average of 4,513 tourist arrivals has been recorded as of August 6. It is a considerable increase compared to the daily average of 2,084 tourist arrivals in May, 1,872 arrivals in June, and 3,284 arrivals in July.
Additionally, a total of 27,079 tourists visited the Maldives in the first six days of August. It is also a significant increase compared to the 1,380 tourist arrivals in the same period in 2020. The statistics also show the average stay of tourists has increased to 9.8 days.
Furthermore, 639,446 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. The government has revealed that it aims to bring 1.3 million tourists to the Maldives by the end of the year.
