Discussions held on introducing additional flights from Russia and Eastern Europe

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has taken part in discussions to commence operations of more airlines from Russia and Eastern Europe to the Maldives.

The tourism minister took part in a meeting on July 23 with Resort Life Holidays, a Maldivian tour operator active in Russia, and Red Wings Airlines of Russia. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Resort Life Holidays and Red Wings Airlines regarding the introduction of flight operations to the Maldives.

Furthermore, the tourism minister also took part in a meeting held on July 22 between Resort Life Holidays and Nordwind Airlines. During the meeting, the minister spoke about the opportunities available for airlines in the Maldives, especially in Gan International Airport of Addu City. The meeting was also attended by the CEO of Villa Hotels Private Limited Ibrahim Siyad Qasim and Business Development Director of Villa Hotels, Murad Hassan.

Tourism Minister Mausoom is currently in Russia upon invitation of Resort Life Holidays. During his trip, the minister visited the office of Resort Life Holidays and acknowledged the hard work and dedication put in by the company to promote the Maldives as a tourist destination to the Russian market.

Russia is currently the top source market of tourists to the Maldives. As per the latest statistics, Russia shares 23.8% of all tourist arrivals recorded in the Maldives this year.
