Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated the Maldives tourism industry needs to establish more beds accommodating for various budgets.
Speaking to PSM News, Tourism Minister Mausoom revealed the government is working with international airports to increase the number of tourist visits to the Maldives. Minister Mausoom said increasing the number of tourist arrivals requires the Maldives tourism industry to establish more beds accommodating to different types of budgets. The Maldives tourism industry should aim to compete in every area of tourism, from luxury tourism down to homestay, he said.
However, Minister Mausoom said Maldives tourism should still follow the principle of One Island, One Resort while implementing plans to expand the industry since it is a large part of the success of the Maldives tourism industry. He added that expanding and accommodating multiple types of tourists will benefit all Maldivians.
