High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan has called on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 15, the foreign minister and the high commissioner exchanged views on the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and discussed the respective national approaches in dealing with its challenges, including vaccination. Foreign Minister Shahid expressed appreciation to the government of Bangladesh for the generous assistance extended to the Maldives in combating COVID-19 on multiple fronts. He noted in particular the services of the medical team of the Bangladesh Armed Forces who stayed in Maldives for over four months, assisting in the government’s vaccination programme.
Minister Shahid also thanked the Government of Bangladesh for supporting his candidature as the President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. The foreign minister and high commissioner acknowledged the strengthening of Bangladesh – Maldives bilateral relations, as evidenced by the recent state visit of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in March and the minister’s official visit in February this year.
Foreign Minister Shahid and High Commissioner Nazmul Hassan reiterated their commitment to working closely together to enhance cooperation and collaboration in areas that are of mutual benefit to both countries.
