Gov't extends deadline to apply as consultant for tourism master plan

Ministry of Tourism has extended the deadline to apply as a consultant for the Fifth Tourism Master Plan.

The tourism ministry has stated the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the budget for the master plan and is tasked with hiring a team of 10 consultants, consisting of a foreign lead consultant and nine Maldivian consultants. ADB has requested it to extend the deadline for seeking the nine Maldivian consultants, stated tourism ministry.

The ministry has extended the deadline to apply as a consultant in the areas of human resources, environment social, cultural, marketing, and product development to July 15. The ministry also extended the deadline to apply as a consultant in the areas in the areas of business development, economic planning, policy, legal, marine, and security to July 13.

The master plan will consist of the various tourism-related goals the government plans to complete within a period of five years. The tourism ministry has stated the master plan will mainly focus on recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and it will complete a draft of the master plan within three months after the consultants are hired.
