Maldives launches Belgium stamp for golden jubilee year of tourism

Ministry of Tourism has launched a commemorative Belgium stamp to celebrate the upcoming golden jubilee year of tourism in the Maldives. The Belgium stamp containing the official logo representing 50 years of tourism in the Maldives was launched with courtesy of the Benelux-Maldives Society.

Speaking at the virtual event, Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom said the launch of the Belgium stamp makes the celebration of the golden jubilee year of Maldivian tourism an international event. Minister Mausoom said tourism in the Maldives has taken a downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic but that the industry is now recovering. He also said the Maldives will welcome tourists visiting from European countries who have vaccination certificates. All Maldivian tourism industry leaders are involved in celebrating the golden jubilee, added the minister.

Speaking at the virtual event, Managing Director of Maldives Post Limited Mohamed Ahmed Shafeeq said it will launching its own commemorative stamp for the upcoming golden jubilee year. Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed and partners in the Maldivian tourism industry had participated in the virtual event.

The Maldivian tourism industry was launched in 1972 with the opening of Kurumba Maldives Resort.
