Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has contracted the design consultancy of the water testing laboratory to be established in Fonadhoo, Laamu Atoll to Epoch Associates Private Limited.
The contract for the project was signed during a ceremony held at the ministry on July 5. The contract was signed by State Minister Ahmed Mujthaba and Managing Director of Epoch Associates, Muawiyath Abdul Sattar.
The environment ministry said the scope of the design consultancy contract includes survey, design and preparation of tender documents for the water testing laboratory. The ministry said the design consultancy component of the project was contracted at a price of USD 17,500, to be completed within 6 months.
The government is establishing water testing laboratories in different regions, as part of efforts to maintain the quality of water supplied in islands. Establishing water supply and sewerage systems in all inhabited islands of the Maldives is a pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
