Restaurants and cafés in the Greater Male' Region have begun dine-in services after a long hiatus.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih recently announced the curfew in the Greater Male' Region would be from 2000hrs to 0400hrs and restaurants and cafés would be allowed to resume operations and provision of services during non-curfew hours, including dine-in services. Restaurants and cafes can provide dine-in services from 0400hrs to 2000hrs, as per the latest ease in restrictions imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier in May, the government strengthened restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19. As such, from May 12 onwards, a curfew was been imposed from 1600hrs until 0400hrs in the Greater Male' Region, restricting services provided by food outlets. Since then, restaurants and cafes were providing only takeaway and delivery services.
All establishments are advised to follow the guidelines, although the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has permitted providing dine-in services during non-curfew hours.
