Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) has stated it is prepared to work with the government to ease the difficulties faced by local businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press conference held to introduce the new board of MNCCI, newly elected President of MNCCI Mudhrikath Moosa said the chamber wants to work with the government to formulate a COVID-19 recovery plan for businesses. He said MNCCI also needs the support of businesses in the efforts to fast track the recovery from the current situation.
Speaking at the press conference, Vice President of MNCCI Asiya Azeema said the new board of the chamber will undertake special efforts to promote female entrepreneurs. Noting 40% of the new board consists of women, Azeema said the board is determined to resolve the difficulties faced by women in business.
MNCCI is a private sector body developed for the social and economic development of the Maldives through the promotion of commerce and industry. The chamber aims to promote and protect trade, business, commerce and public welfare of the nation.
