Maldives records over 120,000 tourist arrivals from Russia

Maldives has recorded over 120,000 tourist arrivals from Russia so far this year.

Russia is currently the top source of tourist arrivals due to the marketing campaigns conducted by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) targeting the Russian market. Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism shows 120,514 tourists have arrived from Russia as of June 24, which is 24.3% of overall tourist arrivals this year.

Recently, MMPRC collaborated with National Geographic Traveller Russia for a physical photo exhibition in two major Russian cities, as part of the efforts to promote the Maldives as a safe haven destination in the Russian market. The exhibition is being held from June 16 to 30 in Moscow followed by an exhibition in St. Petersburg.

MMPRC also successfully concluded a marketing campaign in collaboration with Profi Travel targeting the Russian market, which included the launching of an e-learning platform for tour operators in Russia to encourage them to increase bookings to the Maldives. The e-learning platform is tailored to provide a comprehensive overview of the Maldives and assist tour operators on how to select the best travel options for customers.

MMPRC also commenced a month-long campaign with Association of Russian Tour Operators to educate the Russian travel trade on the destination and promote Maldives as a safe haven for Russian travellers.
