Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has said he is working to return to the Maldives with a renewed determination, despite the multiple injuries suffered in a targeted attack against him on May 6.
In a tweet posted on June 24, Speaker Nasheed said he is working hard to recover from the many injuries sustained in the May 6 attack. He said with the will of Almighty Allah, he is determined to return to the Maldives fully recovered and in good health.
Speaker Nasheed is currently in Germany, undergoing advanced treatment for the injuries sustained when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was triggered near his residence in Male’ on May 6, while he was getting into his car. He underwent several life saving surgeries at ADK Hospital in Male’, before leaving to Germany for further treatment.
