Spokesperson at the President’s Office Mohamed Mabrook Azeez has revealed the government is currently conducting over 1,500 infrastructure development projects across the Maldives, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson Mabrook said the government is carrying out the planned development projects across the country without interruption, despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic. As such, the spokesperson noted 1,566 projects are currently ongoing at different stages. He noted 3 projects were completed and 5 new projects were signed last month, while another 2 projects have been signed this week alone.
Projects signed last month include water and sewerage projects in Keyodhoo, Vaavu Atoll and Landhoo, Noonu Atoll. Projects which commenced last month include the development of extension buildings for the health centres of Vashafaru, Haa Alifu Atoll and Hulhudhuffaaru, Raa Atoll and the protection of Mathikilhi wetland area of Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City.
Speaking at the press conference, the spokesperson at the President’s Office assured that the administration will not halt or delay important projects directly linked to the public, despite the COVID-19 situation.
