Male' City Council working with the government to solve administration issues

Councillors representing the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in the Male' City Council have stated efforts are underway with the government to solve issues related to the council's administration.

In a press statement, MDP councillors stated the Male' City Council is facing numerous challenges including a lack of human resources and office space. The councillors stated the council lacks the necessary number of educated and experienced officials and employees required to run a city. They also detailed the councillors and employees do not have enough desks and computers at the council secretariat and that various departments and sections are currently run in different parts of the city.

Furthermore, the councillors stated the Male' City Council requires a building large enough to house all the departments and sections for the employees to together efficiently. They also stated the council is in need of support staff, urban planners, engineers, surveyors, technical specialists, as well as experts in various fields.

In the press statement, the MDP councillors also stated the council has begun formulating a land-use plan for Male' and requested residents to participate in an upcoming online meeting to give their thoughts on the project. The councillors assured the council will continue to listen and act in accordance with the wishes of party members as well as support the efforts of Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for the benefit of the people living in the capital city.
