HDC seeks contractor to design gas pipeline for Hiyaa housing scheme

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced seeking a contractor for the design and consultation of a cooking gas pipeline system for the Hiyaa Public Housing Scheme.

HDC, together with Maldive Gas Private Limited, is seeking an international company to submit a design concept for a gas pipeline system for the 25-storey apartment buildings. Maldive Gas stated it is accepting bids from an international consultancy firm for a LPG gas network concept designed according to international standards. Maldive Gas stated it will be accepting bids containing detailed specifications for gas pipeline design concepts for the type A and B towers. The bidding process is set to end on June 19.

The decision was made to establish gas pipe networks at the Hiyaa buildings due to the difficulties in carrying gas containers for the upper apartments.

The Presidential Committee Investigating Public Housing Schemes has publicised the final lists of eligible applicants for the apartments under the Hiyaa Public Housing Scheme.

HDC has begun establishing the basic facilities in the buildings, while the apartments are distributed to the applicants via lottery. Hiyaa is the largest public housing scheme project in Hulhumale' Phase II, with 6,720 apartments accommodating over 25,000 people.
