Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh arrives in the Maldives

Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, General Aziz Ahmed, has arrived on an official visit to the Maldives.

The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh was welcomed at Velana International Airport by Chief of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Major General Abdulla Shamaal, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives Rear Admiral Nazmul Hasan, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aishath Shan Shakir and Commandant of MNDF Service Corps Brigadier General Hamid Shafeeq.

During his visit to the Maldives, General Aziz Ahmed is scheduled to meet Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal and Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef. The visit will be concluded on June 6.

The Bangladesh Army has provided numerous assistance to the Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the Bangladesh Army helped to repatriate several Maldivian students stranded in Bangladesh and Nepal due to the pandemic, and provided a medical team to assist the Maldivian health sector in managing the pandemic.
