37 international airlines operating flights to the Maldives

Ministry of Tourism has revealed 37 international airlines operate flights to the Maldives.

The Maldives Tourism Bulletin published by the tourism ministry in June shows 28 airlines operating scheduled flights to the Maldives, and 9 airlines operating charter flights. This is a significant improvement compared to the 23 airlines operating scheduled flights and 7 airlines operating charter flights in the previous month. The airlines operating scheduled flights to the Maldives include 9 European airlines, 6 Middle Eastern airlines, and 3 Indian airlines. The airlines operating charter flights include 7 European airlines and 1 Middle Eastern airline.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister of Tourism Abdulla Mausoom said many airlines have expressed interest in operating flights to the Maldives and some airlines are waiting for borders in their countries to reopen.

Airlines have begun resuming flights to the Maldives after its borders were reopened in July 2020. Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in the Maldives this year, some airlines have halted flight operations to the country, although the total number of flights have increased.
