Male' City Council (MCC) has temporarily halted issuing permits for construction work in the Greater Male' Region. The decision was made in line with the restrictions imposed in the Greater Male' Region to contain the further spread of COVID-19, according to MCC.
MCC stated issuing permits to undertake constructions work and other related work has been ceased until June 9. However, MCC will issue special permits to sites prepared to lay foundation, sites which have been dug, sites which have been prepared to lay slabs and sites which may be damaged if unattended after inspections.
Amid the increase in number of positive COVID-19 cases, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced the extension of the curfew hours imposed in the Greater Male' Region. The curfew in the capital will now run from 1600hrs until 0800hrs, with a permit required to go out at all times, including the non-curfew hours.
Two residential permits are to be issued by Maldives Police Service (MPS) to each household, which can be used between 0800hrs and 1600hrs. One permit would be valid between 0800hrs and 1200hrs, while the other permit would be valid between 1200hrs and 1600hrs.
