Total of 50 islands currently under monitoring by HPA

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed there are currently 50 islands across the Maldives under monitoring due to detection of COVID-19 cases.

Islands currently under monitoring include the administrative cities of Addu, Fuvahmulah and Kulhudhuffushi, as well as large islands such as Thinadhoo, Eydhafushi and Naifaru. Kaafu Atoll and Laamu Atoll currently have the highest number of islands under monitoring, with six islands in each atoll placed under monitoring. In addition, Alifu Alifu Atoll has 5 islands under monitoring and Dhaalu Atoll has 4 islands under monitoring.

As per the latest case update by HPA, 182 people across the atolls tested positive for COVID-19 on May 14. Due to the large numbers of cases detected from the atolls, HPA has imposed curfews in some regions, including Addu and Fuvahmulah.
