Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated tourism will continue in the Maldives with the necessary measures to safeguard tourists and locals.
In a tweet, Minister Mausoom said the tourism industry is currently working with the required safety measures against COVID-19, with respect to the current situation. He expressed confidence of overcoming the current situation with joint efforts from all.
Maldives is currently experiencing its worst wave of COVID-19 cases yet, with single day tallies passing 500, 600 and 700 for the first time in the country – all within this week. Meanwhile, the worsening COVID-19 situation in India has also affected the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives from India.
