Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 389,000 tourist arrivals were recorded in the Maldives during the first four months of 2021.
According to the latest statistics published by the ministry, a total of 389,770 tourist arrivals were recorded during the period. Statistics showed the records of tourist arrivals in the first four months of the year is a decrease of 39.7% compared to the 646,092 arrivals recorded during the same period of 2019 and a 1.8% increase compared to the tourist arrivals recorded during the same duration of 2020.
As per the statistics, the Maldives recorded 92,103 tourist arrivals in January this year, followed by 96,882 arrivals in February. In March, the Maldives recorded over 100,000 arrivals for the first time in a single month since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 109,585 arrivals recorded during the month, followed by 91,200 arrivals in April.
The average number of tourists visiting the Maldives per day is currently at 3,040.
