Event held to promote Maldivian tourism to Indian journalists and tour operators

Ministry of Tourism and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have held an event to promote Maldivian tourism to journalists and tour operators from India.

The event, titled “Maldives: Media Meet”, was held in New Delhi, India. Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Managing Director of MMPRC Thoyyib Mohamed and the High Commissioner of the Maldives to India Hussain Niyaz answered questions from the press during the event.

Speaking on the event, Tourism Minister Dr. Mausoom said such events help to strengthen existing commercial relations and create new business opportunities. He noted the event was part of efforts undertaken to boost tourist arrivals, especially from the Indian market.

India is currently the top contributor of tourists to the Maldives. As per the statistics of the tourism ministry, the largest number of tourist arrivals recorded in the Maldives this year as of March 19 were from India, with 23.8% of all arrivals during the said period.
