Maldives Immigration has revealed 176 tourists have registered at the Maldives Border Mile Programme which was launched on January 1.
Maldives Border Miles is a tourism promotion programme initiated by Maldives Immigration, and developed with Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). It is a three-tiered loyalty program, where tourists who enroll in this programme will earn points for each border crossing based on the number of visits and duration of stay. Additional points are rewarded for the visits on special occasions.
Once the tourist reaches to a tally of a specific number of points, privileges are rewarded with amazing benefits. As they move up the tiers, privileges are enhanced, and benefits are made exclusive.
There are three categories in the Border Miles programme; Aida (bronze tier), Anantara (silver tier) and Abaarana (gold tier). Each tier will be defined by a set variety of rewards, services or benefits, which increase in value as members progress. Points will be rewarded if they stay at least 3 nights in a registered tourist facility.
With the introduction of the Maldives Border Miles programme, it is expected that tourism will boost considerably as it is an added advantage in promoting the Maldives.
