Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has met officers of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) taking part in the operations of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) in Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Defence on January 14. The meeting was attended by Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, Director General of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor and the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Defence Cooperation and Policy (DIDC) Colonel Abdul Matheen Ahmed.
The team of officers departing to Saudi Arabia include Colonel Mohamed Mukhtar, Major Mohamed Saamir, Command Seargent Major Ahmed Abdulla and Warrant Officer Grade 1 Mifthah Hussain. The team will work at the Counter Terrorism Centre of IMCTC established in Saudi Arabia for a duration of one year.
IMCTC is an intergovernmental counter-terrorist alliance of countries in the Muslim world, united around military intervention against terrorist activities. The alliance has 41 member countries.
