Maldives and Bangladesh discuss areas of cooperation

Discussions have been held on strengthening the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh and areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions were held during the meeting held to present the credentials of the High Commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh, Shiruzimath Sameer to the President of Bangladesh, Md. Abdul Hamid. The meeting was held at ‘Bangabhaban’ the official residence-cum-office of the President of Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the Bangladeshi President congratulated the High Commissioner on the commencement of her term and conveyed greetings and well wishes to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Maldives. President Abdul Hamid and High Commissioner Shiruzimath Sameer discussed about potential areas of cooperation in which Maldives and Bangladesh could further develop for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

President Abdul Hamid also assured that Bangladesh will continue to assist and cooperate with the Maldives in all areas. The significance of the preventive measures against COVID-19 was also discussed during the meeting.

The High Commissioner expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support and cooperation extended by Bangladesh and assured President Abdul Hamid of her commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during her tenure of office.
