Vice President inspects site allocated for Thalassemia Centre

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inspected the site allocated for the construction of National Thalassemia Centre in Hulhumale’.

During the visit, the vice president discussed the latest updates on the project. The President’s Office has informed that construction of the new building for the Thalassemia Centre is set to commence within 10 days.

The government decided to construct a new building for the National Thalassemia Centre in order to upgrade the services provided by the facility and resolve the difficulties faced by thalassemia patients in seeking services from the current facility established in Male’. The current building of National Thalassemia Centre has been in use since 1994. Concerns regarding the lack of space and resources at the centre have been shared with authorities on multiple occasions by parents of children undergoing thalassemia treatment.

In addition to the site allocated for the National Thalassemia Centre, Vice President Faisal Naseem also inspected the ongoing development of Central Park and the development site for a parking zone adjacent to MPL Bus Stand, in Hulhumale’. The vice president was accompanied by the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam, Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem and Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Suhail Ahmed.
