Ministry of Tourism reveals 84% resorts in the Maldives have been permitted to reopen since the Maldives reopened its borders in July.
As per the statistics of the tourism ministry, 133 resorts have been permitted to reopen since July 15. The statistics showed that 8 resorts were given permission to reopen in November. With the newly reopened resorts, the bed capacity of the Maldives has increased to 30,878.
While 159 resorts are operated in the Maldives, all operations were interrupted due to the global COVID-19 outbreak. Since borders were reopened in July, over 70,000 tourists have arrived in the Maldives.
