All schools to use one breakfast menu next year

Ministry of Education has revealed all schools in the Maldives will be using one breakfast menu next year.

Speaking at a radio programme, Senior Executive Director of Ministry of Education Moosa Naeem said the 19 menus which had been in use under the school breakfast programme will be replaced with one menu which includes milk, eggs and bananas. He said breakfast will be provided to students of all grades across all schools next year.

In an earlier interview with PSM News, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said the ministry decided to bring some changes to the breakfast programme as a health precaution amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She said the changes will help to provide a breakfast of good nutritious value and reduce wastage.

The school breakfast programme was launched by the administration in 2019. The education ministry states the programme is highly beneficial for students as it helps them focus on lessons and schoolwork better.
