Vice President visits site of proposed Youth Skill Development Centre

Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited the site allocated for the proposed Youth Skill Development Centre in Kalhaidhoo, Laamu Atoll.

During the visit, the vice president spoke with the stakeholders tasked with the development of the centre. The vice president also examined the locations allocated to develop utilities and other support infrastructure required for the centre. Through the day, the vice president held discussions with relevant stakeholders, focusing on the different programmes offered at the centre, and the expected outcomes of those programmes.

Speaking during the discussions, the Vice President highlighted the importance of equipping the nation’s youth with the knowledge and skills required to be self-sufficient, successful and productive individuals. The proposed training facility, with a capacity to accommodate 500 students, will also help shape the participants through training and apprenticeship programmes and promote entrepreneurship.

Minister at the President’s Office Ahmed Sameer, Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail and senior officials from the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, National Drug Agency (NDA) and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) accompanied the vice president on the trip.
