President appoints new Chief of Protocol at Ministry of Foreign Affairs

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Aishath Shaan Shakir as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The new Chief of Protocol was handed her letter of appointment during a special ceremony held at the President’s Office on November 15. Following the appointment, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid tweeted his congratulations to the new Chief of Protocol, expressing confidence of her abilities and diligence in this role.

Aishath Shaan Shakir previously held the position of Maldives’ High Commissioner to Bangladesh. She had also previously held the positions of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in addition to other top positions at the Ministry. She becomes the first female to serve as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
