Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will meet President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during his official visit to the Maldives.
The US Secretary of State will arrive in the Maldives on October 28. The foreign ministry stated Secretary Pompeo will pay a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and have official talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid during his visit. Expected discussions of the visit include the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic as well as ongoing and future collaborations.
The visit of Secretary Pompeo is the highest-level visit by a US Government official to the Maldives, since the visit of US Secretary of State James Addison Baker III on July 24, 1992.
