At least 18 airlines to operate to the Maldives by end of November

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has revealed at least 18 airlines will be conducting operations to the Maldives by the end of November.

In a tweet posted on October 23, Tourism Minister Mausoom noted 12 international airlines have resumed operations to the Maldives since the country reopened its borders on July 15. He revealed this figure would rise to at least 18 by the end of November.

Airlines which have resumed operations to the Maldives include Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Sri Lankan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air India, IndiGo, Aeroflot, British Airways, SpiceJet and Edelweiss. Meanwhile, Flydubai, SilkAir, Lufthansa and Azur Air have also announced plans to resume flights to the Maldives soon.

Some of the airlines which have resumed operations to the Maldives have also decided to increase the frequency of its flights to the Maldives due to the rising demand. As such, Aeroflot and Emirates have decided to increase its weekly operations to the Maldives.

Maldives reopened its borders for tourists on July 15, more than three months after borders were closed due to COVID-19. Tourist arrivals have been increasing steadily since borders were reopened.
