Tourists allowed to split their stay between all types of facilities

Ministry of Tourism has decided to allow split stay for tourists between all types of tourist facilities.

The tourism ministry announced effective from October 23, tourists are allowed to split their stay between resorts, hotels, guesthouses and liveaboards. The ministry said tourists are required to seek prior approval from the ministry as per the split-stay guideline.

The tourism ministry had previously permitted tourists to split their stay between resorts. The ministry decided to allow split stay among further tourist facilities following the reopening of local guesthouses on October 15.

The tourism ministry said the decision was made to encourage tourists to stay in the country longer, and to allow them to experience multiple tourist facilities. The tourism ministry believes the decision to allow split-stay among multiple facilities will boost the number of tourist arrivals in the country.

Maldives has recorded 27,217 tourist arrivals in the first three months after borders were reopened.
